The short version
Your days, logs, journal, letters, reasons and trusted contacts stay on your phone. We do not run accounts, show ads, use analytics or advertising SDKs, or sell data. The only information that leaves your device is purchase status, if you buy Plus.
1. Who we are
Sober Ally (bundle ID com.bwjhub.soberally) is published by Biswajit / Bwjhub (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Sober Ally mobile app for iOS and Android and this website. For privacy questions or requests, contact contact@biswajitnk.com.
2. What stays on your device
The app has no sign-up and no login. The following is stored locally on your phone and is not sent to us or to any server we operate:
- Your quit date, counter, streaks and goal.
- Daily check-ins: mood, sleep, weight, spending and optional notes.
- Craving logs, triggers, intensity and the tools you used.
- Journal entries, letters to future you and personal reasons.
- Trusted contacts you type in by hand.
- Habits, XP, badges and Sober World progress.
- Reminder times, theme and other settings.
Some of this is information about your health and habits. Because we never receive it, we cannot read it, share it or recover it for you.
3. Purchases (Sober Ally Plus)
The counter, craving SOS, breathing tools, journal, helplines and Sober World are free. If you buy the optional Plus upgrade:
- Apple (App Store) or Google Play processes your payment. We never see your card or payment details.
- RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider, receives an anonymous app-user identifier, your purchase and subscription status, and device and store information needed to validate receipts. It does not receive your journal, logs, cravings, reasons or contacts. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
This identifier is not linked to your name or email and is not used for tracking or advertising.
4. Analytics, ads and tracking
Sober Ally contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting service, no remote configuration and no cross-app tracking. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use the iOS advertising identifier.
5. Permissions
- Notifications are optional. Your phone asks only when you turn on a reminder. Reminders are scheduled on the device; no push server is involved.
- Contacts: the app never reads your address book or sends messages for you. Trusted contacts are typed in, and the call or message is made by your own phone app.
- Network: used for store purchases and for links you choose to open (such as a health source).
6. Widgets, exports and backups
- Home-screen widgets: only your day count, savings total and display choices are copied to the widget store on your device (the iOS App Group or the Android widget store). A personal reason appears on a widget only if you choose it, and Private mode removes it.
- Export and backup: you can save a copy of your data as a file or an optional passcode-protected backup (AES-256-GCM). Where that file goes is your choice. We never receive it. Keep backup passcodes safe: we cannot recover them.
- Share cards: sharing uses your phone's share sheet and nothing private is placed on a card by default.
- Device backups: on iPhone, an iCloud or computer backup that you turn on yourself includes app data. On Android we switch off automatic cloud backup for the app.
7. This website
The website has no accounts, forms, advertising or analytics. It stores one preference (light or dark theme) in your browser. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and reliability. See our Cookie Policy. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
9. Retention and deletion
Local data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Use Settings → Reset all data to erase it. Purchase records are kept by Apple or Google and RevenueCat under their own policies. Step-by-step instructions are on our Data Deletion page.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Most of your data is on your device, where you already control it through export and reset. For anything we hold, such as an email you sent us, or to ask about purchase data, write to contact@biswajitnk.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
11. Children
Sober Ally is about alcohol and is not intended for children under 13, or for anyone below the legal drinking age in their country. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has contacted us, email us and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
Purchase data handled by RevenueCat, Apple and Google may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States, under their own safeguards.
13. Security
Keeping data on your device means there is no central database of recovery records to breach. Use your phone's lock screen, and use the in-app option to hide the screen in the app switcher if others can see your phone.
14. Changes to this policy
If our practices change, for example if we add a feature that sends data off your device, we will update this page and the in-app policy before the change applies and revise the date above.
15. Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request about data we hold: contact@biswajitnk.com.
